3rd grade has been practicing steady beat by walking around the room to the beat of the drum. They have been reviewing and practicing quarter note, eighth notes, and quarter rests by playing "rhythm wars" using rhythm sticks. We also took a music class to explore and create. Some students chose to explore the xylophone and learn or create a song. Others chose to write song lyrics! We are doing some fun fall and spooky activities for October!

Ask your student about "Alligator Pie!" We are also learning a folk dance called "Old Brass Wagon." We're also practicing our solfege, so, la and mi, and will be reviewing do and re. Third graders are so excited about our upcoming interactive link-up orchestra concert with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra! Our field trip to the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center to see the TSO is Thursday, February 16th. Check out some of the videos below to see what we are learning! We are singing WITH the TSO! We will be sitting in the audience along with 1000 other 3rd and 4th graders from other BA schools while we sing along with the orchestra! (in other words- we won't be going on stage.) It's going to be a fabulous, rocking concert! (Because the auditorium will be packed- this is a field trip for students and teachers only.) Don't forget, the family concert that parents and students can attend is February 26th 2:15PM at Union PAC. You can still purchase tickets here! Parents, watch this video to learn more about the Link Up program! Students, you can practice our opening song, "Come to Play" with this video! Don't forget which part you sing!
