1st Grade
October- We created our own compositions using rainbow colors and clapped the rhythm of the words. Then we learned quarter note and two eighth notes, which we count as "ta" and "ti-ti". We've practiced those rhythms and we are about to learn quarter rest, which is a *silent* beat in music. We are doing some fun fall and spooky activities as well!
August/September- We have been practicing steady beat in music class! We have practiced steady beat by patting our legs and using "spider fingers," and walking to different beats played on a drum. We have also practiced different locomotor (i.e., walk, run, skip, gallop) and non-locomotor movements (wiggle, jump, wave, spin). We have played some fun games like "sleeping bunnies" and "Apple Tree." We also learned echo songs and call and response songs.
